Virgin Radio UK, in this incarnation, is a new DAB Digital Radio service which launched at the end of March 2016. The UK's original Virgin Radio changed name to Absolute Radio in 2008.
Virgin Radio also exists in many other places in the world, including Italy, Canada, Turkey, Dubai and Bangkok. Outside of the UK the Virgin Radio brand is a top40 station; inside the UK, it's more famous for guitar-based music.
Virgin Radio operates on a brand licensing basis with Virgin Enterprises, Sir Richard Branson's company. The UK service is owned by Wireless Group, which is part of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation operated as part of News UK. There's no business relationship between the many Virgin Radio stations in the world.
The headquarters of Virgin Radio International, the company that looks after Virgin Radio worldwide, is in Sydney, Australia.
