As a matter of fact, she’s staying on with Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG) for forthcoming new projects. That said, “Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien” will conclude its tenth and final season in national syndication in August.
The nationally syndicated public affairs news magazine was launched in 2015, with O’Brien joining the series during its second season. It has been a ratings success. However, the syndication marketplace has come under various challenges in the last five years. This includes the bankruptcy of NATPE and the acquisition of the annual NATPE Global conference in Miami by Canada-based Brunico Communications. This year’s affair is scheduled for early February and has a decidedly Latin flavor, given the market dynamics for syndicated programming on a global level.
For “Matter of Fact,” original weekly episodes will continue through the remainder of Season 10, which premiered in September. The show is produced by HMPG and distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
HMPG President Frank Biancuzzo commented, “The Matter of Fact team, led by Executive Producer Rita Aleman, had a tremendous 10-season run and is going out on top. We have new projects in development with Soledad and are looking forward to what’s ahead in continuing our successful partnership.”
O’Brien commented, “It’s been a privilege to serve as host and producer of Matter of Fact. I look forward to continuing my relationship with HMPG and hosting and producing meaningful and impactful projects.”
