Foxtel Group extends rugby league rights
Foxtel Group has extended its rights deal with Rugby League Commercial, with a multi-year agreement that will see Kayo Sports broadcast every Super League game live.
The UK-based league is the second most-watched rugby league competition in the world, behind the NRL.
The recent Las Vegas matchup between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves saw the league’s international reputation bolstered, and with the upcoming NRL broadcasting rights currently in flux, this is a solid victory for Foxtel Group.
Rhodri Jones, the managing director of Rugby League Commercial, said that many of the players in the Super League will already be well known to Australian footy fans.
“There are such strong links between the world’s two leading Rugby League competitions,” he explained in a press release. “So many familiar names to Australian viewers who now have a key role in Super League.”
Ex-NRL players like Bevan French, Luke Keary, and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves are playing in the 2025 season, while Sam Burgess, Brad Arthur, and Adrian and Lachlan Lam are in coaching roles.
This extension now means all NRL and Super League games are available, live, on Kayo Sports.
Foxtel Group’s executive director of commercial sport, Rebecca McCloy, said in the release the extension is “all part of our objective to grow the game” in Australia.
“We are continuing to strengthen the connection between not only English fans with their premier national rugby league competition, but Australian fans and their NRL heroes now playing abroad.”
