And new! Foxtel launches dedicated UFC channel
Foxtel has launched a new 24/7 channel dedicated to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The group announced Main Event UFC on Monday, which will be available on Foxtel and Kayo Sports, and feature ‘free fight marathons’, behind the scenes content, live press conferences and weigh ins.
Despite the new channel, ESPN will still be the home for UFC Fight Night coverage in Australia.
“We are super-charging the UFC experience across our platforms with a dedicated channel that will pump up all UFC fans in the lead up to upcoming Pay-Per-View events and Fight Nights on ESPN – all in HD,” Foxtel group director of content acquisitions and sports partnerships, Adam Howarth, said.
“The new channel continues our commitment to working with our partners to establish new fans and grow audiences.”
The news comes just weeks after Perth hosted a sold out UFC 305 at RAC Arena, while this weekend’s 306 event will be held for the first time ever at the iconic Sphere in Las Vegas.
Appearing on a recent episode of Mumbrella’s one-on-one podcast, the CEO of Foxtel’s streaming and advertising division, Julian Ogrin, praised the UFC and its rise in Australia in recent years.
“The fact that the UFC has entrusted us to actually take the lead on the subscription… that shows the enormous trust in the relationship between the two of us. We are very committed to UFC,” Ogrin said.
“I think I went to UFC 301 and just seeing the diverse crowd, it is a family crowd. It’s what really blew me away.”
