Network 10 yesterday celebrated its 60th birthday with on air montages in 10 News First bulletins, at midday and 5pm, and during The Project.
Complete with a Tim Tams plug it wasn’t quite the primetime special served up for 40th (hosted by Bert Newton & Rove McManus) and 50th (hosted by Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar) anniversaries, but it did reflect on some iconic television moments.
Former ATV0 staff also attended an intimate event at The Project studio in South Yarra yesterday afternoon, which featured a video link to Angela Bishop and Sandra Sully reminiscing in Sydney, before Jennifer Keyte blew out the candles in person.
While there was no catering, guests were given a 60th cupcake and mug.

When you watch these videos you realise how plastic TV has become.
Video 1 at 318:
That was Bangkok Hilton with Denholm Elliott and Nicole Kidman – not Vietnam.
As per usual, heavy on current stuff (Deal Or No Deal is unlikely to be in their 70th birthday clips), light on earlier stuff.
Well spotted.
I love the optimism that there is even going to be a FTA Network 10 in ten years time given the current landscape of media and the direction it’s heading in.
Australia won’t have 3 commercial FTA networks in a decade.
A cupcake and a mug? I’ll take my chances with Oprah’s favourite things.
In the second video, we momentarily see the “rotating icicle” station ID.
For your information, it comes from the 1969 album “Moog Power” by Hugo Montenegro.
It’s track 9, ”
MacArthur Park (Allegro Part III)”.
It’s not the complete song. Rather it’s a repetition of a instrumental adaptation of 3 minute 25 second of the non-sung part of the of the song that was a hit for Richard Harris.
Thanks
