Yumi Stynes joins Double J
Yumi Stynes has been announced as the latest addition to the Double J radio team.
Stynes will be hosting from 8am on Saturday and Sunday on the station, with current timeslot host Caz Tran moving to the afternoon slot.
She currently hosts a podcast for the ABC — Ladies, We Need To Talk, which focuses on sex, health, and relationships — as well as a pair of podcasts for ARN’s iHeart: The 5-minute Food Fix, and ‘I Heart Trivia’.
Stynes also hosted a podcast for the SBS, named Seen, which hasn’t returned since last April. Throughout 2024, Stynes periodically appeared on Double J, often as a fill-in host.
Stynes’ return to the airwaves comes on the same weekend as triple J favourites Jay and the Doctor — Jay Whalley and Lindsay McDougall from Frenzal Rhomb — who will be taking the 3pm slot on Sundays.

yumi’s so great, as are many of the ex JJJers who fill these JJ airwaves. They are so good in fact I think its killing JJJs soul.
Amongst other factors I fear the double j model is shifting JJJ to become pop-ified and a nova 2.0. doubleJ fills a void for aged out triple J listeners to hear less commercial stuff. but this means that triple J needs to be more different from double j… and theyve chosen to go the more commercial route, rather than cutting edge alt.
This almost complete shift (see hottest/poppest 100) for JJJ has left a gap for young(er) people wanting more than just accessible pop (roan, rodrigo, ) and soft rock (spacey jane etc).
what do the dissaffected youth listen to now?
