BBC Radio Manchester has recorded its highest audience figures in over a decade.
The station reached 266,000 weekly listeners (from 248k last quarter and 207k last year) according to the latest RAJAR figures (Q4 from July 2016 to December 2016). The figures also included average hours listened per listener which came in at 8 hours 36 minutes per week.
Kate Squire, BBC Radio Manchester Managing Editor, said: “We are all delighted…..new listeners are discovering us all the time and loving what they hear. They’re cheered up, they get involved and everything we talk about is relevant to people’s lives in Greater Manchester. We’re the home of Mike Sweeney, and a brilliant line up of presenters, plus we play some terrific tunes….watch out for new presenter Chelsea Norris - and even Jesus is now a listener!”
Earlier this week Manchester City’s Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus revealed he is listening to BBC Radio Manchester to help him learn English.
