He’s the man behind Whiskey Sours Broadcasting & Productions of Michigan, and he’s just invested in a Class A FM radio station serving the Kentucky town of Monticello. What does this mean for “Z93 Country”?
That will ultimately be left for Bill Sours to decide, as he’s acquiring WMKZ-FM 93.1 in Monticello, Ky., from Monticello-Wayne County Media Inc. and its owners, Jill Massengale and Joel Catron.
The deal includes WMKZ’s studio and broadcast tower, while Mr. Sours will purchase a station vehicle — a 2005 Jeep Liberty — individually.
A $260,000 purchase price has been agreed to by Sours, with $55,000 assigned to the property and vehicle and $105,000 for the license.
A $10,000 escrow deposit has been paid to Massengale and Catron and is being held by their agent, Phillips & Phillips Escrow. The remainder is due at closing.
WMKZ is celebrating 35 years of service.
For Sours, ownership of WMKZ will bring him a second FM, as he is the licensee of WSBX-FM in Mackinaw City, Mich.
