BFBS and Forces TV Video Journalist, Ali Gibson, is running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 31st May in aid of the BFBS Big Salute.
“Through my reporting I’ve seen the wonderful work done by the five charities that are supported by the BFBS Big Salute,” said Ali. “I wanted to play my part and do something to help the service personnel, families, and veterans who have done so much for us.”
The annual BFBS Big Salute campaign raises money for; Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, Blind Veterans UK, Combat Stress, FAB (Families’ Activity Breaks) and Veterans Aid.
Ali has been training three mornings a week near her home in South Queensferry, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. She’ll be running the half marathon alongside a number of Army officers that also live at Army Headquarters (Scotland).
“The most challenging aspect will be the distance,” added Ali. “I've never run further than six miles before, so 13 miles will be quite a leap! It's going to be hard to keep going but I’ll be focusing on all the people the BFBS Big Salute can help.”
