2SER appoints new managing director
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Macquarie University have appointed a new managing director of the jointly-owned community radio station, 2SER.
Cheryl Northey takes on the role, bringing over 15 years of experience in international digital media, news and entertainment companies with companies including Network 10, the ABC, SBS, and Deutsche Welle.
In the radio space, she has held roles at the Community Broadcasting Australia Association and the Australian Music Radio Airplay Prokecy, and is currently a sector investor and advisory committee member for the Community Broadcasting Foundation.
“I’m looking forward to joining 2SER and shaping the vital role it plays in supporting independent, diverse and innovative music, news and content that connects with and amplifies Sydney communities,” she said of her appointment.
She succeeds Paula Kruger, who is leaving the station after two years.
During her time at 2SER, Kruger led a phase of organisational change to lean into the future.
The 2SER Board thanked her for her contribution, describing her professionalism and dedication as invaluable to the station, and wished her success in her future endeavours.
Northey will begin in the role on 2 December 2024.
