We are looking for an experienced Broadcast Journalist for a senior role. You will have a fantastic voice and great writing skills to join our team producing local news bulletins for Heart stations across the South, particularly the Thames Valley, as well as providing content for Global’s national brands like LBC and Classic FM.

What you’ll be doing

You will be able to create original news content that will appeal to our target audiences. You’ll also make sure that everything you do is compliant with legal and broadcast regulations, and consistent with Global’s values and standards. You’ll be using a full range of multi-media tools, to research, write, and edit local online news, as well as creating engaging content on our Twitter and Facebook accounts complete with videos and audio links. We want you to be passionate about news, and eager to investigate and create your own unique and exclusive stories.

You’ll have these skills and experience

You will have a Journalism qualification, and experience of broadcasting both live and pre-recorded news bulletins. You should also have a good understanding of the region in which you are working and the key issues facing that region. At least 3 years’ experience in a radio newsroom. A full, clean UK Driving License is essential.

Is passionate about news, and eager to investigate and create unique and exclusive stories. Thrives on breaking news and enjoys covering the big stories in your patch, whenever they happen. As a senior member of staff, you will be happy working on your own and under the guidance of your Regional News Editor to provide target, leading news content and you will also be comfortable supporting other members of the South News team.
