The Wireless Group was founded by former Sun editor Kelvin Mackenzie, and purchased local radio companies The Radio Partnership in 1999 and Forever Broadcasting in 2004. It was purchased by television operator UTV Media in 2005, and was known as UTV Media until 2016, when ITV purchased UTV's television franchise in Northern Ireland.
The company rebranded as Wireless in 2018.
