Muslim regional journalists honoured as ‘trailblazers in media’

Alima NadeemMuslim regional journalists have been honoured for their work at an annual awards ceremony.

Alima Nadeem, who works as a senior journalist at Newsquest daily the Bolton News, has been named Trailblazer in Media at the British Muslim Awards 2024.

Alima, pictured, began her career as an apprentice on the Blackburn-based Lancashire Telegraph in 2018 and later became a community news reporter for the title.

Yorkshire Post comment editor Ismail Mulla was highly commended in the category.

Bolton News editor Richard Duggan told HTFP: “We’re so pleased that Alima was the recipient of this prestigious award – she had no idea she was going to win which meant it was a real surprise!

“Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and won this year.”

A spokesperson for the British Muslim Awards 2024 said: “Over the last decade we’ve looked to honour and uplift the achievements of British Muslims and look forward to the continued growth and success of this vibrant and dynamic community.
