Bauer Media has today announced that Suzy Cox has been appointed Editor of heat.
Suzy is currently Deputy Editor of Cosmopolitan, where for the last four years she has worked across multiple platforms, helping lead the transition to a 360 degree print and digital brand. She has also edited Cosmopolitan spin-off magazine Cosmo on Campus.
Suzy said: "heat is an icon of a brand and I'm honoured to be working with Lucie and the amazing team on such a well-loved, generation-defining title. I have lots of ideas for the development of the magazine and can't wait to get started."
She began her career in young women’s magazines, working at Smash Hits, 19 and Mizz. She has also held the roles of Features Director at Grazia and Acting Deputy Editor of News UK’s Fabulous magazine, meaning she has interviewed everyone from Kylie to Cheryl and Russell Brand, once even setting Westlife on fire.
Heat Editor-in-Chief Lucie Cave said: “Suzy is a very talented editor, full of brilliant plans for heat, and I am very much looking forward to working with her. She is joining heat at a very exciting period in its history as we continue to evolve.”
Suzy is also a successful young adult fiction writer, creating a The Dead Girls Detective Agency series for HarperTeen in the US. The titles have also been published in the UK and Germany, at one point out-selling JK Rowling.
Commenting on Suzy’s appointment, heat publisher Richard Howard said: “I am thrilled that Suzy is joining heat and I know that her and Lucie Cave will make a formidable team. They are both highly creative and dynamic with the vision to lead heat - and its talented journalists - into its next exciting life-stage.”
Suzy’s start date will be confirmed shortly.
Earlier this month heat celebrated winning a PPA Award for Best Use of Social Media.
