UK-based Global Media Publishing has plans to launch its latest journal on the world market – AFRICA POWER NEWS.
The new publication - AFRICA POWER NEWS – will provide key information about independent power generation in North, Central & South Africa’s many different electrical power sectors. Following US President Barak Obama’s announcement of Power Africa – a US$300 billion initiative to double access to electricity in Africa - AFRICA POWER NEWS will publish features on the work involved in harnessing the continent’s enormous power potential. New grid developments and fossil fuel, biopower, geothermal, hydro, wind and solar energy projects will be highlighted in the editorial. The magazine also profiles independent generator installations, as well as extensive power generation & transmission systems and the expansion of mini-grid and off-grid energy solutions.
Managing Editor for Global Media Publishing, Aidan Turnbull, explained about the AFRICA POWER NEWS readership profile. “Research & development behind this project has taken approximately two year, but GMP’s management feels the time is right to put this new magazine into the Continental marketplace of Africa. The official print readership of AFRICAN POWER NEWS will be 10,608 readership throughout Africa, reaching seven key sectors. We fully expect the digital online readership to achieve three times this figure. For example, the highly popular WORLDWIDE INDEPENDENT POWER magazine has printed circulation of around 12,000 copies, but a digital circulation of around 28,000+ copies.”
He continues: “AFRICA POWER NEWS is distributed - in March 2015 and September 2015 - within specific sectors of the onsite power and cogeneration industry. Our market projections show our digital subscriber base is likely to increase by approximately 100 readers per month. The sectors addressed by this magazine are: mining; construction; cogeneration; marine; oil & gas industry; consulting engineers; industrial end-users; service suppliers and utilities, government departments, charity/aid foundations, non- governmental organisations (NGOs), and medical aid/hospitals.”
AFRICA POWER NEWS readership comprises: managing directors/general management; design engineers/service engineers/NGO management; maintenance directors/engineers/planning consultants; production/process engineers/research & development; technical directors/chief engineers/buying/purchasing; civil engineering/construction management/financing.
AFRICA POWER NEWS is scheduled for availability in the following countries [in both print & online formats] : Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire), Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe , Sarawi Arab Democratic Republic, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Somaliland, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Aidan Turnbull concludes: “Energy use and development varies widely across the Africa continent, with some African countries exporting energy to neighbours or the global market while others are developing basic infrastructures and improving generating systems to produce additional energy. The World Bank is currently working to lift 25 of the 54 nations on the continent out of an energy crisis.
"Africa has an average electrification rate of 24%, while the rate in the rest of the developing world lies closer to 40%. In areas covered by the electrical grid, power is often unreliable which is sales of independent power generators in Africa continue to be high. AFRICA POWER NEWS will serve as a business and technology platform to highlight developments in Africa’s power/grid sector and to focus on independent power generation products & services available to all the nations of the continent.”
