It was first published in July 1828, making it the oldest surviving magazine in the world.
The Spectator is politically conservative, and its principal subject areas are politics and culture and since August 2024 has been owned by Old Queen Street Media operated by Sir Paul Marshall who operates the political website UnHerd and is a significant shareholder at GB News.
